Holiday Prep Plans for Halloween–Week 4

Thanks! Share it with your friends!

We are almost ready for the holiday-how about your family?

Last week, I wrote about how we were continuing to prepare for the holiday.  This week, I’d like to give you the update.

Community Fun

I called the farm owner and made plans for our hay ride.  We signed the contract and put down a deposit for the ride. I also have quite a few families signed up for the event.  All I have to do now is to collect  the money from the participants and get families to sign up to bring dishes for the potluck.

Goodie Bags

This past week, my children brought home sign up sheets for their school parties.  I could either send in baked goods, or contribute items to be put in the party favors for the children in the class.  I decided to do both.

As expected, I need to replenish our candy supplies!  The children and my husband found the candy stash even though I thought I had found a very clever and secret spot to stash the goodies. It could have been worse though. One year, my puppy did eat quite a bit of chocolate when she found the goodies and opened the trunk where they were hidden.  I ended up taking her to the vet because she got so sick!

The decorations are up at our house and we’re enjoying looking at the different displays that our neighbor’s have created.

I finished the costumes for my older two children and I bought a cute knight costume for my son this weekend at Walmart. Since my son will be going out as a knight, we decided that our puppy will be his gallant horse.  All I have to do is finish the costumes for the other two children now.

Pumpkin Carving

We have found a farm stand and we’ll be getting our pumpkin this weekend.  We’ll carve the pumpkin a few days before Halloween though.  Since it’s still very warm down here in Virginia, our pumpkin would spoil if we carved it any sooner.

Remember, there are only 16 more days until the holiday!  Are you ready?
