I just read about an amazing opportunity for single moms and dads wanting to return to college. Project Working Mom. . . and Dads Too! is an amazing program bringing two million dollars in scholarships to deserving single parents who wish to obtain a college degree. Five schools, along with eLearners.com, will be sponsoring free rides to approximately 60 qualified recipients.
eLearners.com is an online resource that provides information about online programs to potential students. The five institutions that will be providing the online scholarships are Ashford University, Capella University, Everest University, Virginia College, and Ashworth College.
The awarded scholarships will provide students with online educations ranging from certificate programs, Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees, and can even include Master’s and Doctorate degrees. Any single parent who can demonstrate need and desire should apply for one of these scholarships. See details at the Project Working Mom website. Applications are due by April 30, 2009. Don’t hesitate to apply. What have you got to lose?
Articles and Resources
I’ve talked about education for returning adult students as well as online learning. Adult students can find many more resources at the Project Working Mom website. Going back to school can be intimidating. Spend some time reading the articles and reviewing the resources at the website, and you’ll be feeling much better about becoming a college student.
You’ll find information on financial aid and ways to pay for college and on finding the right online program for you. There are also some great resources just for parents that will help you to naviate and balance your life as a student. And please check out these personal development articles on topics like building self-esteem and dealing with people who don’t support you.
The information and resources Project Working Mom has put together are worth a visit to the site, but the chance to achieve your education dreams without paying a penny is something you can’t miss out on. I recommend spending some time at the website and applying for the scholarship. What an amazing opportunity this will be for recipients of these awards. For more detailed information, you can read the Project Working Mom press release. Please let me know if you decide to apply and if you find this information useful.
