At present, more and more students have to face the problem of high priced textbooks for college and university studies. Because of high prices for curricula and extra-curricular activities textbooks, some students are not able to go to the university or even graduate. It will be a shame if some really talented students will not get a diploma due to the restricted funds they have.
I’m amazed at the things that my children are learning in school these days! It seems they are learning advanced concepts several grades early than I did. It also seems that I don’t remember the concepts as well as I did 25 years ago. What do you do when your child needs help with his homework and you have no clue how to help him? You search for homework help sites online. Here are some help sites that we’ve used. (more…)
Perhaps your family is looking for one final “family field trip” before the summer ends and school begins. If you have a limited budget, and a limited amount of time, you may want to consider taking your family to Washington DC. Although it’s expensive to stay in and around the city, most, if not all of the sites to see are free. Because of this, it’s one of our family’s favorite “family field trip” destinations.
When I worked as a teacher, I remember that I disliked September for many reasons. One of the reasons was because of the fact that most of the month was spent reviewing concepts from the past school year. Parents and teachers know that unless a plan is created during the summer to practice and review concepts, there is definitely a regression during the summer.
During the summer months, it’s difficult to motivate most children to do any activities which are even remotely educational. It is important, however, to make sure that your children continue to practice their reading skills over the summer.
Dear “And You Will Have Kids”,
My children are in middle school and are exploring career options. They have no clue what they want to do after graduation. Any ideas on how to help them choose a career?

When I was in school back in the 1980’s, many people didn’t have home computers. In fact, typing wasn’t even a mandatory course back then! Because my mother was a secretary and felt that typing skills were important to have, I took typing. I’m glad that I did!
I believe that creativity is an important skill to cultivate in children. Creative children tend to have better problem solving skills and adapt better to transitions. Children who can adapt and problem solve will be better to handle and resolve the many problems that life throws at them. How do you encourage creativity in your children? (more…)
Dear “And You Will Have Kids”:
My ex wife is making a HUGE drama out of our daughter’s upcoming conference at the school. She says she does not want me there and that she won’t give me the information on the conference. I learned about the event from my daughter by the way.
Dear “And You Will Have Kids”:
I am currently homeschooling my children. I’ve heard about a new online charter school which is free in our state using our tax dollars. I’m not sure if I should enroll my children though.
