One of the most difficult, yet important things to do during your baby’s early days of life is to get a routine for the day. Having a routine actually helps to decrease crying episodes and helps your infant begin to anticipate what “comes next”. This sense of familiarity or routine is calming for most babies and, in turn, results in less bouts of crying and fussiness.
Crying is completely normal behavior for babies. However, some babies cry quite often and are harder to calm. If you have a child like this, it can be very discouraging: it’s heartbreaking to not be able to help your child; it’s also stressful when a baby cries and can’t be settled.
When my oldest child was a baby, she would scream so loudly during bath time that I used to worry what the neighbors were thinking. Should I explain to them that I was bathing her, or wait for them to show up on my doorstep and ask what was wrong?
For many centuries, parents have been using pacifiers to help soothe and calm cranky infants and toddlers. Some children readily give up their pacifiers when they become toddlers; other children refuse to part with their pacifers and need some encouragement to do so.
Some children don’t mind taking medicine. They don’t mind the yucky taste of some liquids and they are able to swallow pills without too much trouble. Other children just don’t “do” the medicine thing well.
Having a child is an exhausting event. Due to insurance regulations, many women have extremely short hospital stays and are back home in an incredibly short amount of time.
The neighbor just asked my 13 year old to babysit her daughter this weekend for a few hours. I’m not so sure how I feel about this, but my daughter is very excited to have the chance to earn some extra money. Is she too young to be babysitting at 13?
